Modernization of company departments in marketing, management and HR have improved workflow efficiency, learning, control, flexibility, production and performance to survive the onslaught of other competitors. Decision making in organizations has rarely been the focus of organized analysis. In the last couple years, this may account for the astounding number of recent poor decisions to invest in and securitize mortgage loans. Because there are so many different uses for computers, there are a correspondingly large number of different application software programs. Examples of different types of software ap plications are Microsoft Office, Adobe, IBM Lotus, Novell, and Netscape. System software are programs that control and support the computer system and its information processing activities. Systems software also facilitates the programming, testing, and debugging of computer programs. System control programs control use of the hardware, software, and data resources of a computer system. The main system control program is the operating system. The operating system (OS) supervises the operation of the computer. One of its key functions is to monitor the computer’s status, scheduling operations, including the input, and output processes.
